Launched in January in the US and Japan, the Xperia PRO is now going on sale in the UK, Germany and Nordic regions.
The Sony Xperia Pro is the first smartphone to have an HDMI input, enabling it to be connected to a camera to provide a 5G data link for streaming in real-time. When used with compatible third-party live streaming applications, it can stream from a camera to an RTMP server or directly to social media platforms.
The HDMI input also enables the Xperia Pro to be used as 6.5-inch 4K OLED monitor through the pre-installed External Monitor feature. The External Monitor feature has a screen lock function, screen brightness adjustment, zoom capabilities, adjustable grid lines and more.
Users can also connect a camera to the Xperia Pro via a wired Ethernet or USB connection to transfer still images automatically to an FTP server.
Network Visualiser
The Network Visualiser feature developed for the Xperia Pro also provides easy-to-understand information about the signal reception status, communication method and communication speed to help photographers and videographers on location find the best spot for live transmissions. It shows the current signal reception, indicates the reception status of the 5G signal that is being received and provides communication throughput.
A shortcut key on the side of the Xperia Pro can be assigned to launch a frequently used feature including Network Visualiser.
Designed for Content Creators
Sony’s Xperia Pro has all of the imaging technology found on the Xperia 1 II smartphone, including a triple-lens camera with a 16mm ultra-wide-angle lens, 24mm lens wide-angle lens and 70mm telephoto lens.
It was developed in combination with Sony’s Alpha camera engineers and integrates technology such as Real-time Eye AF (autofocus) for both humans and animals. There are also manual controls to suit photographers plus 20fps shooting with 60 times per second autofocus/autoexposure calculations and raw file support.
The Xperia PRO also offers a range of tools for filmmaking such as Look colour management pre-sets, 21:9 movie recording, 4K HDR in 24p, 30p, 60p and 120fps slow-motion and an Intelligent wind filter. The 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED display features a 21:9 CinemaWide aspect ratio and supports the BT.2020 colour space.
With Creator mode “powered by CineAlta”, and a specially calibrated D65 white point, it references the colour reproduction of Sony´s professional colour monitors.
The Sony Xperia Pro has Zeiss optics that are calibrated specifically for it plus Zeiss T* coating to reduce reflections.
Robust and durable
The Xperia Pro combines IP65/68 rating water and dust resistance with Corning® Gorilla® Glass 6 on the front for protection.
Inside, the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 865 5G Mobile Platform and the Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF system powers gaming, image or video capture, cross-task and connections with multi-gigabit 5G speeds. It’s claimed to have a 25% faster CPU and GPU than on the previous Xperia model.
In addition, the 4.000mAh battery is compatible with the optional UCH32C Fast Charger for quick top-ups. The Battery Care feature prevents the phone from overcharging, while Xperia Adaptive Charging monitors the phone as it charges to make sure the battery isn’t overworked.

The Sony Xperia Pro is set to go on pre-order from today, 6th May 2021, until 13th, May 2021 at £2,299.
