Sony has released what it calls ‘the world’s toughest and fastest SD cards,’ introducing the SF-G TOUGH range, which are protected against numerous potential hazards and offer fast read/write speeds.
Sony’s new SF-G TOUGH memory cards claim to be 18 times stronger than the SD standard and are made of high-grade materials in three layers that protect them from physical damage.
Sony says it has achieved this via a rib-less design with no write protection switch, unlike conventional SD cards, which are often prone to damage over time.
This means the new Sony TOUGH cards are bend-proof to 180N, drop-proof to 5 meters, water-proof with an IPX8 rating, as well as magnet-proof, X-Ray-proof, temperature-proof and anti-static.
And behind this robust build quality are write speeds of up to 299MB/s and read speeds of up to 300MB/s.
The new Sony SF-G TOUGH memory cards are available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities. They have an October release date, but price information wasn’t yet clear at the time of writing.
