Sony unveils full-frame 50mm f/2.8 macro lens

Sony has launched a new full-frame FE 50mm f/2.8 macro lens – price £500 and €660 – for its E-mount system of Sony cameras, the company has announced.

The new Sony lens offers 1:1 macro capability and a range of controls, such as a focus-mode switch, focus-range limiter and a focus-hold button.

What’s more, Sony says the FE 50mm f/2.8 is ideal for landscapes and portrait photography, in addition to macro photography subjects because it offers a 0.16m minimum focusing distance and a wider frame for capturing more of a background.

The Sony FE 50mm f/2.8 Macro lens also employs ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass to help compensate for axial chromatic aberration at close focus.

The Sony FE 50mm f/2.8 (model SEL50M28) will be released in Europe in October with a price tag of approximately £500 and €660.
