Sony has expanded its power solutions for creators by launching two new products aimed at enhancing the power management of Alpha series and Cinema Line cameras using NP-FZ100 batteries. The BC-ZD1 battery charger and the DC-C1 DC coupler provide more efficient charging and continuous power supply options, catering to the demands of photographers and videographers who require extended shoot times.

The BC-ZD1 is a high-speed charger that allows two NP-FZ100 batteries to be charged simultaneously in approximately 155 minutes. The charger operates optimally when connected to a 30W or higher USB Power Delivery (PD) compatible power supply, ensuring that creators can recharge their equipment swiftly during shoots. Compact and portable, the BC-ZD1 measures approximately 84.5mm in width, 29.2mm in height, and weighs 149g, making it convenient for on-the-go use. Its indicator lamp provides real-time battery status updates in five stages, offering clear feedback on the charging progress.

For longer shoots or live streaming sessions where constant power is essential, Sony’s new DC-C1 DC coupler steps in. The DC-C1 supplies continuous power directly to the camera from an external source, such as a USB PD-compatible AC adapter (65W or more), providing a stable and uninterrupted power flow. Compatible with cameras using NP-FZ100 or NP-FW50 battery packs, the DC-C1 is designed with a locking screw to prevent accidental disconnections and includes a 1.6m cable for flexible placement during use.

Both products emphasize portability, with the DC-C1 power assembly measuring 52mm in width and 32mm in depth, weighing just over 70g. This compact design ensures that creators can move easily between shoots without being weighed down by bulky equipment.

These solutions are available from mid-October 2024, with the DC-C1 priced at approximately £130 and the BC-ZD1 at £120. For more information on these new products, visit Sony’s official product pages and BC-ZD1.
