Sony has added another prime to its full-frame G Master lens lineup, introducing the 24mm f/1.4 G Master Prime, price tag £1,450 with a release date set for October.
The new Sony 24mm f/1.4 G Master prime lens features a compact, lightweight design and measures just 75.4mm x 92.4mm and weighs just 445g.
Sony says this lightweight build is achieved by a newly developed Direct Drive SSM, which promises three times greater thrust than the previous version and is more accurate and quiet.
The Sony 24mm f/1.4 boasts a new optical design comprised of 10 groups with 13 elements. This construction also includes to Extreme Aspherical (XA) elements and three Extra-low Dispersion (ED) elements.
Sony says the two XA elements help keep sagittal flare at bay, which ensures point light sources are reproduced accurately. In other words, the FE 24mm f/1.4 GM lens should appeal to astrophotographers.
The Sony 24mm f/1.4 G Master has a filter diameter of φ67mm and comes with a Nano AR Coating to reduce flare and ghosting.
Other features of the Sony 24mm f/1.4 G Master offers include an aperture click switch on the aperture ring to enable or disable click stops, while the focus ring features a Linear Response MF for precision manual focus control.
