Sigma has announced the 85mm F1.4 DG DN Art lens, price tag £999, for E-Mount and L-Mount cameras.
Sigma’s first-ever DG DN Art lens with an F1.4 aperture is less than half the weight of the previous 85mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens, weighing in at 630g, compared to 1215g.
Sigma says the 85mm F1.4 DG DN Art lens’s aluminium construction helps keep the weight down.
It also brings a brand new optical design. Inside the new Sigma lens are 15 elements in 11 groups, of which there are five SLD elements and one aspherical element.
Sigma has used high-refractive-index glass that helps to correct aberrations.
The Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN Art also employs a stepping motor for smoother shooting, and Sigma says it has allowed the company to reduce the size of the lens body thanks to a smaller focus element.
There’s also a new iris ring lock switch that allows users to lock the iris ring at auto or between apertures F1.4 to F16.
The lens barrel also boasts a Focus Mode Switch and an AFL button to which you can assign different functions.
Other features include a minimum focusing distance of 85cm and a 77mm filter size.
You can pre-order the new Sigma lens from Adorama or Wex Photo Video.
