Sigma has announced the 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM hyper-telephoto zoom lens – price tag £1,899 / $1999 with a release date set for October.

Aimed at sports photographers, the Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM is available in Nikon, Canon and Sigma mounts. It’s the world’s first 10x optical zoom telephoto lens with a tele end of 600mm.

The Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM is constructed of 25 elements in 19 groups and uses Sigma’s Intelligent OS to provide an image stabilisation effect of up to four stops.

Sigma has also updated the algorithm of its Hyper Sonic Motor, promising its high-speed AF can capture instantaneous movement.

The Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM also employs three F Low Dispersion glass elements and one Special Low Dispersion glass element to correct chromatic aberrations.

Sigma says it has also used multi-material, such as magnesium, CFRP and TSC in the 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM in order to keep it lightweight and portable. It’s also dust- and splash-proof.

Sigma has also designed the lens barrel so that both smooth rotation and straight zoom are possible with the Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM.

Other features include a tripod socket, replaceable lens foot, 90-degree click stops and a zoom lock switch.
