Sigma has announced updates to its I Series lenses, bringing mechanical refinements and design enhancements to its popular line of compact prime lenses. The updated models include the Sigma 20mm f/2 DG DN | Contemporary, 24mm f/2 DG DN | Contemporary, 35mm f/2 DG DN | Contemporary, and 65mm f/2 DG DN | Contemporary. These lenses, known for their all-metal construction and high optical performance, now feature improved aperture rings and better mechanical operation, making them even more appealing to photographers who value precision and quality.

One of the key updates is the introduction of a click-switchable aperture ring, a feature that allows users to choose between a clicked or smooth aperture control. This is particularly useful for video shooters who prefer silent adjustments. Additionally, the lenses now have a more refined focus ring design for smoother manual focusing, improving the overall handling experience.

Sigma’s I Series has been praised for its balance of performance, portability, and premium build, making them an excellent choice for mirrorless shooters. These refinements further cement their status as some of the best compact primes available for L-Mount and Sony E-mount users.

Each of the updated lenses retains the optical formula and core specifications of their predecessors, with the following key features:

  • Mounts available: L-Mount, Sony E
  • Maximum aperture: f/2
  • Aperture control: Click-switchable aperture ring
  • Build material: All-metal construction
  • Focus: Smooth manual focus ring with improved mechanics
