Sigma unveils FF Classic Prime Cine lens range price, release dates

Sigma's i/Technology-compatible cine lenses will enable users to record lens metadata

Sigma has announced a new FF Classic Prime Cine lens range along with an L-mount adapter that allows you to use PL-mount cine lenses on L-mount cameras.

Optics in the new Sigma FF Classic Prime Cine lens range will include 14mm T2, 20mm T1.5, 24mm T1.5, 28mm T1.5, 35mm T1.5, 40mm T1.5, 50mm T1.5, 85mm T1.5, 105mm T1.5 and 135mm T.15 options.

These new ‘Art Prime’ PL lenses are made for filming 8K footage and are designed with electronic contacts that support Cooke’s /i Technology communication protocol for Art Prime PL mount lenses.

Sigma explains that using an /i Technology-compatible cine lens with a cine camera that supports the same protocol will enable users to see and record lens metadata such as focus distance, focal length, and aperture.

Sigma PL-L Mount Converter MC-31

Also announced as a development project is the Sigma PL-L Mount Converter MC-31. The Sigma MC-31 converter will enable users to mount PL mount cine lenses on the SIGMA fp and other L-Mount cameras, such as the Panasonic S1H.

Sigma says it will release price information and release dates for its new lenses at a later date.
