Sigma unveils 20mm, 24mm F1.4 DG DN lenses for Sony E, L mounts
News

Sigma has announced two new full-frame lenses for its Contemporary line, the Sigma 24mm F2 DG DN C and the Sigma 90mm F2.8 DG DN C.

The 24mm F2 DG DN C and 90mm F2.8 DG DN C are new additions to Sigma’s I series of compact prime lenses for mirrorless cameras. They both feature an all-metal barrel, an aperture ring and focusing driven by a stepping motor.

Sigma 24mm F2 DG DN C

According to Sigma, the 24mm F2 DG DN C offers the highest level of optical performance even when used at its maximum aperture of f/2.

It’s constructed from 13 elements in 11 groups with two SLD glass elements and one FLD glass element. The SLD and FLD elements correct axial chromatic aberration, which can be a significant issue with bright lenses. It also has two high-precision glass-moulded aspherical elements to reduce the overall number of elements required, thus reducing the size and weight of the lens.

Sigma has also applied its Super Multi-Layer Coating and supplies a petal-type lens hood.

Key features

  • Lens construction: 11 groups, 13 elements (1 FLD, 2 SLD and 2 aspherical)
  • Angle-of-view: 84.1°
  • Number of diaphragm blades: 9 (rounded diaphragm)
  • Minimum aperture: F22
  • Minimum focusing distance: 24.5cm
  • Maximum magnification ratio: 1:6.7
  • Filter size: 62mm
  • Dimensions (Maximum Diameter x Length): 70mm×72mm (L-mount)
  • Weight: 365g (L-mount)

Sigma 90mm F2.8 DG DN C

Like the Sigma 24mm F2 DG DN C, the 90mm F2.8 DG DN C is a compact prime lens.

Sigma has used its very latest optical technology to create the 90mm F2.8 DG DN C and it’s constructed from 11 elements in 10 groups with five SLD elements and one glass-moulded aspherical element. Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been applied.

Key features

  • Lens construction: 10 groups, 11 elements (5 SLD and 1 aspherical)
  • Angle-of-view: 27°
  • Number of diaphragm blades: 9 (rounded diaphragm)
  • Minimum aperture: F22
  • Minimum focusing distance: 50cm
  • Maximum magnification ratio: 1:5
  • Filter size: 55mm
  • Dimensions (Maximum Diameter x Length): 64mm×59.7mm. (L-mount)
  • Weight: 295g (L-mount)

Price and availability

The Sigma 24mm F2 DG DN C and Sigma 90mm F2.8 DG DN C both have a price tag of £549.99/$669 and will go on sale on 24th September 2021. They are available with the L-mount or Sony E mount.

You can pre-order Sigma 24mm F2 DG DN C and 90mm F2.8 DG DN C from Adorama in the USA.
