Sigma has officially put the rumours to rest and launched its new 14-24mm f/2.8 ART lens, which is designed for Canon and Nikon cameras offering more than 50 megapixels resolution.

The new 14-24mm f/2.8 Art lens design comprises 17 elements in 11 groups and boast a nine-blade aperture. This includes three FLD glass elements, three SLD glass elements and three aspherical lens elements, including one 80mm high precision glass aspherical element.

It also offers a maximum magnification of 1:5.4 and a 114.2°-84.1° angle of view.

With the 14-24mm f/2.8 Art lens Sigma has also introduced a new Front Mount Conversion Service allowing you to convert the petal-type hood of the 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM Art to an exclusive round component allows for the lens to be used in various VR scenarios without the risk of interfering with other lenses in the VR rig or undesired shadows in the content. Pricing for this service has not yet been determined, Sigma says.

Size-wise, the 14-24mm f/2.8 Art lens weighs 1,150g.

Other features include weather sealing and compatibility with Sigma’s MC-11 Sony E-mount converter and Canon’s Lens Aberration Correction.

Sigma already offers a 12-24mm f/4 Art lens, which is a stop slower than this new model would be.

The f/4 lens is priced $1,600, so we can expect the Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 ART lens price tag to exceed this amount when Sigma reveals the new lens’s pricing.

The new Sigma ART lens is available in Canon, Nikon and Sigma mounts.
