SheClicks, the women-only photography community, has partnered with Olympus UK to launch its first exhibition.
The exhibition, which will be hosted at the After Nyne Gallery in Holland Park, London, will comprise 50 images selected from more than 2,000 entries.
The contest was open to all SheClicks members and the brief was wide open, allowing photographers to simply choose their best images across any subject or technique.
Images were selected by the judging panel of Angela Nicholson, Tracy Calder, Amy Davies, Martina Govindraj, Kate Hopewell-Smith, Liz Jeary, Astrid McGechan, Beata Moore, Georgina Pavelin and Katie Teesdale-Ward.
SheClicks was launched in 2018 by Angela, a co-founder here at Camera Jabber who’s name you’ve no doubt seen at the top of all of our camera reviews. SheClicks began as a closed Facebook group to encourage and support female photographers of all levels. It has since grown to include live events and webinars, and now has its own dedicated website.
Angela says the purpose of the exhibition is to carry on this ethos of encouragement and give photographers the opportunity to exhibit a print for the first time.
As the sponsor, Olympus UK is supporting the exhibition by arranging for the printing, framing and gallery space.
Meanwhile, the online photographic competition platform Photocrowd helped manage the submission and selection process.
The exhibition will run at After Nyne from 25 September through 1 October. Please note that the gallery is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
