SheClicks calls for exhibition submissions
News

Last August, while I was sat at home nursing a broken foot, I began to invite fellow female photographers to a closed Facebook Group called SheClicks. Now 9 months later, the group has over 3,000 members and I’m excited to announce that we’re holding an exhibition of the group’s photographs.

Anyone who identifies as a woman, and is into photography in any way, is welcome to join the group and to submit images via this link to Photocrowd

Olympus UK has kindly agreed to sponsor the exhibition, but it’s open to images from any camera. Georgina Pavelin, Olympus Marketing Manager, commented, ‘Olympus UK is proud to sponsor this exhibition which will showcase the creativity and talent of female photographers’.

The Details

Photocrowd is facilitating the image submission and selection process. We want SheClicks members to submit the images they are most proud of. The images they would most like to see hanging on a wall. The images can be shot on any subject with any camera.

Images must be submitted via Photocrowd and the deadline for submission is 30th June 2019.

It’s free to enter one image, subsequent images may be submitted at £2 each. You can submit up to 8 images as JPEGs.

Please upload the full-size JPEG file for each image.

Images can be up to 25mb in size, and 10,000 pixels on the longest side. The minimum image size accepted is 1080 pixels on the image’s shortest side.

The Exhibition

The exhibition will feature 50 images that Olympus will print and frame. It will be open from 25th September to 1st October and will take place at the After Nyne gallery in Holland Park, London.

All the exhibited photographers will be invited to attend the private view and will receive an exhibition catalogue as well as their framed print.

About SheClicks

I created SheClicks to form a supportive and encouraging community for female photographers of all levels of experience. It’s somewhere we can chat about photography and kit in a friendly, relaxed environment. We have a mix of beginners, enthusiasts and pros, as well as many aspiring pro photographers.

Members join to swap ideas, pick-up tips and enjoy each other’s images.

We also have free webinars with inspiring photographers and industry experts. The first was presented by Sony Ambassador Kate Hopewell-Smith who explained how to take control of flash. And since then, we’ve gone from strength to strength.

For example, the webinar by Fujifilm Germany ambassador, Elke Vogelsang, in which she shared the secrets of her incredible dog portraits, inspired lots of great canine photography

Although the closed Facebook group is where most of the conversation happens, we also have meet-ups. So far we’ve had great support from the photographic industry and it feels like there’s a momentum building.
