Samyang has unveiled the AF 12mm F2 RF-S, its first autofocus lens designed for Canon RF-S cameras. Launched on 5 December 2024, this ultra-wide-angle prime lens combines compact design, exceptional image quality, and advanced features, making it a versatile tool for photographers.
Weighing only 213g and measuring 57.2mm in length, the AF 12mm F2 RF-S is the lightest and widest lens available for Canon RF-S mounts. Its portability and bright F2 aperture make it ideal for landscapes, architecture, astrophotography, and travel. The wide field of view creates immersive compositions, while the large aperture ensures clear, detailed images even in low light.
Samyang has equipped this lens with three extra-low dispersion (ED) elements and two aspherical lenses, effectively minimising chromatic aberration, distortion, and sagittal coma. The result is sharp corner-to-corner resolution and stunning clarity for nightscapes and high-contrast scenes. The lens also excels at creating pronounced background blur and beautiful starburst effects with its seven-blade aperture.
The AF 12mm F2 RF-S features Samyang’s Linear STM (stepping motor), delivering fast, silent, and precise autofocus, ideal for still photography and videography. Its 0.2m minimum focusing distance allows for dynamic compositions, while a weather-sealed construction ensures reliability in challenging environments.
