Samsung has been granted a patent for a new biometric camera to integrate into its phones, which will offer 3D face and iris recognition.

Apple debuted a similar technology with the iPhone X, but the Samsung patent aims to take it a step further with eye tracking and capability in extreme low light, according to Patently Apple.

The Oppo Find X and Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition phones also offer 3D face recognition.

Samsung’s new technology will likely make its debut in a phone sometime next year.
