Samsung UK is teaming up with the Science Museum Group to offer the public a fully immersive 360-degree tour of the Soyuz spacecraft with astronaut Tim Peake.

The Science Museum Group, which acquired the capsule Soyuz TMA-19M in 2016, and Samsung are launching The National Tour of Tim Peake’s Spacecraft and Space Descent VR.

The Soyuz spacecraft will go on public display for a tour around Britain, where visitors can use the Samsung Gear VR technology for a virtual reality experience of the craft.

The first stop on the tour will be the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, where the Soyuz will go on display from 27 September to 19 November. From there it will travel to Shildon, York, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast.

“It is wonderful to be in Bradford for the start of another incredible journey for this spacecraft, which took me on a life-changing journey and delivered me safely back to Earth,” said Peake.

“I’m particularly happy that people up and down the UK now have the opportunity to discover more about my Principia mission and space travel, and that the Science Museum Group – with the support of Samsung – are doing so much to inspire the public and schools in this tour.
