Reddit users have posted an image of what appears to be a forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphone that boasts a variable aperture lens.
Users posted a photo of a product box bearing the name Samsung Galaxy S9, and on the back is a list of its specifications. Among these specs are a Super Speed Dual Pixel 12-megapixel OIS camera with an f/1.5-2.4 lens.
As DPReview points out, this would seem to imply the Galaxy S9 will come with a stabilised variable aperture camera that can switch between f/1.5 and f/2.4 depending on the light.
What’s more, the f/1.5 aperture would be the fastest on any of the current crop of smartphone cameras.
Other specs listed include an 8-megapixel AF Selfie Camera, IP68 water and dust resistance and 64GB of memory.
