Samsung has launched a new VR camera aimed at professionals, introducing the Samsung 360 Round which boasts 17 lenses with f/1.8 apertures.

Behind each of the Samsung 360 Round’s 17 lenses is a 2-megapixel camera, along with six microphones integrated across the hockey disc-shaped body that allow the new 360 camera to create VR video.

In addition to the microphones, the Samsung 360 Round will boast two microphone ports and is capable of lives streaming 4K video at 30 frames per second.

The Samsung 360 Round price tag, at $10,500, is aimed squarely at professionals or very wealth enthusiasts, and Samsung said its 360 camera will have a release date for late October in the American market. Samsung says it will then roll the camera out in other markets ‘over time.’

The Samsung 360 Round was launched today at Samsung’s Developer Conference. The VR camera has been in the works for some time, referred to as Project Beyond.
