Ricoh has announced the Theta Z1 – price tag £899.99 – its next-generation 360 camera which boasts boasts dual 1-inch sensors offering 23-megapixel resolution.

The flagship model of its 360 range, the Ricoh Theta Z1 features twin 1-inch back-illuminated CMOS sensors that can produce 23-megapixel spherical images and record immersive 4K video at 30fps.

There’s also a newly designed 3-axis rotational stabilisation technology built-in to help compensate for rotation shake.

The 1-inch sensors are a big step up from the 1/2.3-inch sensors in the Ricoh Theta V (and which are used in most other 360 cameras) and should mark a significant upgrade in image quality.

The Ricoh Theta Z1 now also supports Adobe DNG (raw) format, and it offers 19GB of internal memory.

Battery life is about an hour of filming or 300 still images. The revamped body design features a 0.93-inch organic EL monitor and a Function button.

There’s also a new range of shooting modes on offer, such as aperture priority.

The Ricoh Theta Z1 release date will be late March 2019.
