Ricoh Theta V firmware update boosts image quality in interval shooting

Ricoh has released a new firmware update for its Theta V 360 camera which boosts the image quality when using interval shooting mode.

The Theta V firmware update also improves an issue where the electric wave of wireless LAN 92.4GHz) was sometimes weak.

And Ricoh says that the update also maintains the Theta V’s sleep mode status when connecting or disconnecting it to a PC via USB.

Ricoh has also updated its Theta S app, which you use to control the Theta V remotely. Among the updates are:

 

Android

・It is now possible to turn stitching during shooting on/off in video mode when THETA V is connected.
・It is now possible to turn zenith correction on/off when transferring videos recorded on THETA V to a smartphone.
 -If zenith correction is turned off, videos recorded with stitching during shooting turned on can be transferred more quickly.

*Camera firmware needs to be updated to the newest version (Version 1.10.1 or higher).

・It is now possible set the white balance and exposure compensation in video mode when THETA V is connected.

*When securing THETA vertically for shooting is possible, using the following settings can make transfer to a smartphone faster than usual.
These settings can also be used in other situations, such as when you want to immediately check shooting results before normal transfer.
1. In video shooting settings, select “Stitching during shooting: On”.
2. In transfer settings, select “Zenith correction: Off”.
*If “Zenith correction: On” is selected, transfer will take as long as usual.

iOS

・The type of devices that can transfer 4K video without resizing to 2K has increased. (iPhone6s/6s plus, iPad mini4th/5th)
*Transferring 4K video takes some time. (Guide: The time to transfer one minute of video is approximately three and a half minutes to five and a half minutes.This will differ depending on the device and operating system).
*Click here for information on devices that support 4K video.・It is now possible to set the still image shooting mode other than auto even when only connecting with Bluetooth.
