The Ricoh GR Facebook page has posted a cryptic message suggesting that a new GR III camera could be released in time for Photokina in September 2018.
Pentax Rumors spotted the post on the Ricoh GR Facebook page, which talks about a ‘restart’ for the GR.
The translated Facebook post reads:
“In 2018, we are preparing for the new website “GR official” as a very important thing to work on for the first time to restart GR. (Scheduled to start in April)”
Meanwhile, a subsequent post by someone calling himself asahi man suggests that the Ricoh GR III could be announced at Photokina in September.
We reported earlier this year on talk that a full-frame Ricoh GR-E was in development, which would boast a 36-megapixel curved sensor and a 28mm f/2.4 retractable lens.
However, Ricoh/Pentax has also been reported to be struggling and on the verge of leaving the imaging market. But perhaps reports of its demise have been premature.
