Retro-style Nikon Camera Spotted: We think it's mirrorless
News

Amidst the talk, rumour and speculation about what Nikon might have in the pipeline, we’ve discovered a couple of interesting images of a retro-style Nikon camera. It’s hard to tell from the shots, but we have a hunch that despite its SLR-styling, it’s a mirrorless model.

We don’t have any details but we’ve taken a good hard look at the photographs and one thing is clear, it’s either a film camera or a full-on retro mirrorless model inspired by the Nikon F. We’re plumping for the latter, but that begs the question what does the film advance and rewind controls do?

Perhaps they’re used to toggle through the drive mode options, or advance through images in playback mode?

There are no clues about the sensor size or resolution, but given the old-school look, we suspect that it’s going to be about the detail rather than speed. That’s probably just as well because it doesn’t look like it’s going to be able to handle the heat generated by a high continuous shooting rate.

It’s going to take some time to digest the full implications of this discovery.
