Gentleman Coders has launched RAW Power, a new free app that allows photographers to edit raw files on their iOS devices.

The app offers eight different sliders for fine-tuning your images, as well as histograms that show you the clipped areas in shadows and highlights.

“We constantly hear from photographers how much they want to edit the RAW images in their iOS or iCloud photo libraries using the kind of advanced tools they are accustomed to using on the desktop,” says Nik Bhatt, Founder of Gentlemen Coders and former leader of the Aperture and iPhoto teams.

“Using our deep experience with Apple’s RAW Engine, we have created a powerful, easy-to-use editing app that seamlessly integrates with the built-in Photo apps on iOS and Mac.”

As well as supporting ‘hundreds’ of raw formats, RAW Power also supports JPEG and PNG files. What’s more, you can copy adjustments between different images. And RAW Power has a wide-gamut imaging engine that allows users to zoom in up to 800% for more precise adjustments.

While the app is free, you can also upgrade to get a number of extra premium features, such as White Balance tools, Curves and a Depth Effect that creates a ‘portrait mode’ style effect through a single in-app purchase of the Advanced Adjustment Pack for $9.99.

RAW Power also provides full access to the Photo Library on iOS whether images are stored on the device or in iCloud.

RAW Power introduces a new section called “Recents” which provides quick access to the images and albums most recently viewed at the top of the screen. In addition, users can view, create, delete and rename albums.

At the photo level, when viewing the photo grid within an album, the app allows for sorting by date, sharing and favoriting images, removing images from the album view or deleting from the photo library entirely.

An Inspector tool also offers quick access to albums, photo metadata and adjustments.

What’s more, because the app is closely integrated with iOS and iCloud, all changes made to photos within RAW Power are immediately applied to the iOS photo library and synced to iCloud Photo Library.
