ProGrade Digital has announced that its CFexpress Type B Cobalt and Gold cards, offering minimum write speeds of 1.3GB/s and 400MB/s, respectively, will soon be available to the general public.

The company says that its CFexpress cards will see their public release as soon as firmware for existing compatible cameras is updated or when new devices are introduced to the market.

In the meantime, ProGrade Digital is rolling out broader sampling of its CFexpress 1.0 Type B cards. The company is seeking qualified development partners only at this time, who must fill out a request form on the ProGrade Digital website, after which sample purchases can be made.

Specs for ProGrade Digital’s new CFexpress cards promise very fast read and write speeds:

CFexpress Cobalt Label

  • Maximum read speed 1600MB/s
  • Burst write speed 1400MB/s
  • Minimum sustained write speed 1300MB/s
  • 325GB, 650GB capacities

CFexpress Gold Label

  • Maximum read speed 1600MB/s
  • Burst write speed 600MB/s to 1000MB/s
  • Minimum sustained write speed 150MB/s to 400MB/s
  • 120GB, 256GB, 512GB, 1TB capacities

ProGrade Digital will also be launching a new CFexpress high-speed USB 3.1 Gen 2 card reader.
