This photographer shot a video with a 136-year-old lens, and the results are stunning

If you’ve ever thought about dusting off your old film photography gear, here is some solid evidence that a great lens never goes out of date.

Youtuber Mathieu Stern, who challenges himself to shoot with all manner of lenses from the bizarre to the budget, recently got his hands on a large format camera lens from 1880, one of the first lenses with an internal iris.

Stern mounted the lens and shot some video with it, and results are surprisingly amazing.

Not only is the lens incredibly sharp for a 136-year-old simple metallic optic, but he found that it’s even sharper than most of his modern Canon lenses

Take a look at the dream-like footage and see if you’re as impressed as we are!
