Peak Design has announced its foray into the tripod market, introducing the new PD Travel Tripod, price tag starting at $349.95, which packs down to half the size of traditional travel tripods.
Four years in the making, Peak Design’s Travel Tripod is available in both aluminium and carbon fibre versions and is focused on portability. When packed, the Peak Design Travel Tripod’s diameter is just 3.25 inches (about the same as a water bottle) and expands to 58.5 inches tall.
Peak Design’s Travel Tripod also promises quick set-up thanks to a system of non-inverted legs that deploy along a network of locking cam levers.
A ball head on top can be adjusted via a single ring for 360-degree movement, while the quick-release plate is Arca Swiss compatible.
Other features include a spirit level, built-in universal phone mount, hook for counterweights and a soft carrying case.
The Peak Design Travel Tripod price tag is $599.95 for the carbon fibre version and $349.95 for the aluminium model.
The Travel Tripod is launching first on Kickstarter at a discount, with a wider release date set for Christmas 2019.
