Panasonic has unveiled the LUMIX GH7, the latest flagship model of its Micro Four Thirds mirrorless LUMIX G Series. This new camera was announced in Wiesbaden on 5 June 2024, the LUMIX GH7 is designed to meet the growing demands of professional video creators with its outstanding video performance, wide dynamic range, and advanced autofocus capabilities.
The LUMIX GH7 boasts a newly developed 25.2MP BSI CMOS sensor, delivering high resolution and fast response times. It offers a dynamic range of over 13 stops, ensuring rich gradation and exceptional image quality. The camera features Phase Detection Auto-Focus (PDAF) for high-speed, high-precision focusing, enhanced by real-time auto-focus recognition for subjects such as aeroplanes and trains. Improved image stabilization technology, including perspective distortion correction and a High mode in Active I.S., provides powerful compensation for shooting on the move.
Supporting the efficient workflows required in professional production environments, the GH7 is equipped with Apple ProRes RAW internal recording and the world’s first 32-bit float recording. This innovation eliminates the need to adjust sound recording levels during shooting when using the new XLR microphone adapter, DMW-XLR2, which will be available separately at the end of July 2024 for £499.99.
The camera’s video capabilities include internal recording of 5.7K 30p ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes RAW HQ, along with proxy recording for workflow efficiency. It supports native Camera to Cloud integration with Adobe’s Frame.io, allowing images and videos to be automatically uploaded, backed up, and shared via the cloud. The LUMIX GH7 also enables users to load original LUT files and apply new color looks directly to videos and photos with REAL TIME LUT.
Designed for reliability in professional settings, the LUMIX GH7 offers unlimited video recording with efficient heat dissipation and a built-in cooling fan. It features a tilt-free angle monitor that does not interfere with HDMI or USB cables and is built to withstand harsh environments with dust, splash, and freeze resistance down to -10 degrees Celsius.
