Panasonic has announced the LUMIX S 24mm F1.8, price tag £799.99, a new large-aperture wide-angle lens for use with its full-frame S series cameras.
The new Panasonic LUMIX S 24mm F1.8 joins the existing 85mm and 50mm lenses in Panasonic’s fixed focal length f/1.8 range. The LUMIX S 24mm F1.8 is comprised of 12 elements in 11 groups, which includes three aspherical lenses, three ED lenses and one Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion lens.
The LUMIX S 24mm F1.8 promises silent, fast AF with the sensor drive capable of a maximum 240fps. Videographers will also benefit from a mechanism to suppress focus breathing, while a micro-step aperture control ensures smoother transitions in exposure.
Other features include a 9-blade circular aperture and a 67mm filter thread.
The compact LUMIX S 24mm F1.8 weighs just 310g and is splash- and dust-resistant. It can also be used in conditions down to -10 degrees Celsius.
Panasonic says the LUMIX S 24mm F1.8 will be released from the end of September 2021.
