The Panasonic G9 appears to be out of stock and on back order at many of the top photographic retailers in the United States.
4/3 Rumors reports that a number of readers have been writing in, asking why Panasonic’s flagship stills camera isn’t available for purchase.
Sure enough, a search of the top US retailers shows the G9 isn’t available.
The Panasonic G9 is currently listed as on back order at B&H Photo Video. It’s also on back order at Adorama.
The G9 is also unavailable at Amazon, however it’s product page lists stock as available from April 2nd.
Rather than a supply issue, it sounds like demand could be exceeding production. There have been similar issues in the past at retailers with the Nikon D850 where high demand led to back orders.
The Panasonic G9 begin shipping on January 25th this year. The camera boasts the same sensor and processing engine as the Panasonic GH5.
With a price tag starting at £1,499 / €1,729 /$1,698, the Panasonic G9 couldn’t be described as a cheap camera, but you get a lot for your money. As we noted in our Panasonic G9 review, it’s a versatile camera that’s capable of capturing an impressive level of detail.
