Olympus has announced a new M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-200mm f/3.5-6.3 lens – price tag £799.99/$899 – that offers 16.6x magnification in a weather-proof design.

The new M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-200mm f/3.5-6.3 is a 35mm equivalent of 24-400mm, making it the biggest zoom lens for mirrorless cameras to date, Olympus says.

Aimed at landscape and street photographers, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-200mm f/3.5-6.3 is dust-, splash- and freeze-proof for use in adverse conditions.

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-200mm f/3.5-6.3 incorporates special Super ED and aspherical lenses to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions, while Olympus’s ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) coating helps keep ghosting and flare at bay.

The ED 12-200mm f/3.5-6.3 is also equipped with the MSC (Movie and Still Compatible) focus mechanism that uses an inner focus system which moves a single lightweight lens for focusing to help boost high-speed AF performance.

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-200mm f/3.5-6.3 will be released from late March 2019.
