Olympus: OM-D E-M5 II replacement on the way

News

Olympus plans to release a replacement for the OM-D E-M5 Mark II, according to senior representatives of the company.

In an interview with Imaging Resource, Olympus General Manager of Global Marketing in the Imaging Division, Toshiyuki Terada, said ‘we can reassure you that we plan to introduce a successor model’ to the OM-D E-M5 Mark II.

When asked about the reason for the delay in launching an OM-D E-M5 Mark II replacement, he added: ‘The move of the factory from China and Vietnam had a double impact on the financial results, and an impact on product release timing.’

Previously we reported on changes to the Micro Four Thirds Wikipedia page which suggested an OM-D E-M5 Mark III release date was due for 2018.

You can read our list of which specs we expect to see in the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III.
