Nokia has debuted its long-rumoured 9 PureView smartphone, which uses a five-camera array to produce images with up to 240-megapixel resolution.

The Nokia 9 PureView’s five cameras consist of two RGB and three monochrome sensors, making it a first for a smartphone. Each sensor offers 12-megapixel resolution, and the accompanying lenses are all 28mm f/1.8.

The Nokia 9 PureView then merges together images from these five sensors to produce high-resolution images with more detail and 12.5 stops of dynamic range.

There’s also an infrared sensor for depth reading. Photos can also be depth-edited post capture by pressing different focal points on the image.

There isn’t, however, any optical zoom. It also uses a Snapdragon 845 processor rather than the newer Snapdragon 855.

Other features include raw capture, wireless charging and a 5.99-inch QHD display.

The Nokia 9 PureView price tag will be priced £549.
