Nokia has announced its new flagship smartphone, the Nokia 8, which boasts dual 13-megapixel cameras and Zeiss lenses.

Designed to compete with phones like the iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S8, the new Nokia 8 will feature a 13-megapixel RGB sensor with 1.12µm, along with a secondary 13-megapixel monochrome sensor.

The latest flagship phones from Google Huawei, LG and, of course, Apple, both employ this dual camera design. Its purpose is to combine data captured from both sensors to create images with much greater detail and better low-light performance.

The Nokia 8 camera also introduces what the company is calling the ‘bothie’. Similar to a 360 camera, the Nokia 8 camera will use the company’s Dual Sight technology to trigger both cameras to shoot simultaneous video or still images of the photographer and his or her subject. You’ll also be able to stream this live on Facebook and YouTube.

Its Zeiss lenses offer a fast aperture of f/2.0, as well as optical image stabilisation.

Other features include spatial audio, which it inherits from Nokia’s OZO 360 camera, a 5.3in screen and a 4K video mode.

Nokia 8 Price & Release Date

The Nokia 8 price tag will be £546 / €599, with a release date set for early September 2017.
