Nikon has posted a teaser on its websites and if you look carefully, there’s a clue that we could be about to see the Nikon Z8. Take a look at the disappearing words in the image above – the very last line ends with an ‘8’ rather than a question mark.
The Nikon Z8 is thought to be a smaller alternative to the superb, double-gripped Nikon Z9, sitting between it and the Nikon Z7 II.
There are no hard facts about the Nikon Z8 yet, but if it were to feature the same 45.7MP stacked CMOS sensor and superb AF as the Z9 in a smaller body, it’s likely to be a huge hit. The stacked sensor, combined with the Z9’s high-powered Expeed 7 processor deliver blazingly fast responses and superb subject detection.
The Z9 also has 8K video capability, but perhaps this will be a step too far for the Z8, Nikon may rein it back to 4K to reduce the need for heat dissipation and keep the price down.
