Nikon will end its authorised repair service in the United States in the early spring next year, the company has announced.
The website iFixit obtained a letter that Nikon sent to its remaining Authorized Repair Stations in the US, which said that the company would not renew its partnership agreements with them beyond March 31, 2020.
This means that the 15+ Nikon repair shops will no longer have access to official Nikon parts and tools, as well as software and manuals needed to make repairs to Nikon cameras.
This could make it more difficult for Nikon users to get their cameras repaired, as the company stopped selling its official parts to non-authorised repair stores back in 2012.
From April 2020, the company says that all official Nikon repairs will be performed at the company’s offices in Los Angeles and Melville, New York.
