Nikon has announced the release of four Creative LUTs and one Technical LUT, all developed in collaboration with RED Digital Cinema, Inc. These LUTs are available for free and can be utilised for colour grading footage shot in N-Log with Nikon mirrorless cameras. Users can also load the LUTs onto external monitors, allowing them to preview a nearly finished look while shooting on location.

The release includes the Achromic LUT, which offers a refined, low-contrast monochrome effect while preserving texture and detail, creating a classic, elegant look. The Film Bias LUT delivers a warm, film-like aesthetic with balanced colours and natural skin tones, adding subtle contrast for a sophisticated edge.

For those looking for a more intense visual, the Film Bias Bleach Bypass LUT provides a high-contrast, desaturated appearance inspired by the traditional bleach bypass technique, giving footage a harsher, faded look. Lastly, the Film Bias Offset LUT adds film-like warmth and softness, using a unique blend of colour correction and contrast adjustment to elevate video content.

These Creative LUTs have been meticulously crafted under the supervision of RED, renowned for their expertise in digital cinema cameras. With this collaboration, Nikon users can now incorporate the distinct color science of RED into their N-Log workflows, achieving video looks comparable to RED cinema footage. This development expands the creative possibilities for Nikon’s mirrorless video shooters, enabling them to produce more cinematic visuals.
