Nikon registers NOCT trademark for cameras, lenses

Nikon designs a new sensor
News

Nikon has registered a trademark for the term NOCT in the European Union for use with new cameras and lenses.

The trademark, discovered by the blog Nokoshita, was registered on 18 May under the category of Computer & Software Products & Electrical Scientific Products, and its status is currently under examination.

Is this a sign that a Nikon full-frame mirrorless camera is getting closer? It’s certainly more strong evidence that an announcement could be coming soon.

As Nikon Rumors reminds us, Nikon also filed patents recently for 52mm f/0.9 and 36mm f/1.2 lenses for full-frame mirrorless cameras.

With a Nikon full-frame mirrorless announcement seemingly due soon, we ran through the specs we’d like to see.
