Along with the new Nikon Z fc, Nikon has announced that it’s developing a high-power zoom lens for APS-C format (Nikon DX format) mirrorless cameras. The Nikon Nikkor Z DX 18-140 f/3.5-6.3 VR is scheduled for release later this year.
On a Nikon DX-format camera such as the new Z fc or Nikon Z50, the Z DX 18-140mm f/3.5-6.3 VR will have an effective focal length range of 27-210mm, making it suitable for shooting a wide range of subjects. According to Nikon, the lens will also be compact and lightweight.
Nikon’s press release states: “The development marks Nikon’s ongoing pursuit of a new dimension in optical performance. Not only does Nikon continue to meet users’ needs, it contributes to the development of imaging culture, while expanding the possibilities of imaging expression.”
