Nikon has announced its widest-ever tilt-shift lens, introducing the PC NIKKOR 19mm f/4E ED.

The new FX lens offers 97 degrees of coverage, which is the widest focal length of any of the ‘perspective control’ Nikon lenses in the NIKKOR range.

What’s more, the PC 19mm f/4E offers photographers the opportunity to make the direction of tilt operation parallel or perpendicular to shift.

This gives photographers more control than ever over perspective, focus and depth of field, Nikon says.

The NIKKOR 19mm f/4E boasts three ED and two aspherical elements to help keep distortion and glare at bay, as well as ‘virtually eliminating’ chromatic aberration and coma, Nikon says, even at the widest aperture settings.

The new Nikon lens also features Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coat to ward off ghosting and flare, and a Fluorine coating helps protect the lens from dirt, water and smudges, Nikon adds.

The Nikon PC 19mm f/4E ED also incorporates an electromagnetic diaphragm for fast auto-exposure control.

The new Nikon PC 19mm f/4E joins the PC-E NIKKOR 24mm F3.5D ED, PC-E Micro NIKKOR 45mm f/2.8D ED and the PC-E Micro NIKKOR 85mm f/2.8D in its range of perspective control lenses.

With a release date set for October 27, the PC NIKKOR 19mm f/4E ED price tag will be $3,399.95 /
£3,299.99 / €3,999.
