DxOMark has awarded the Nikon D850 a score of 100 points in its review of the camera’s full-frame sensor.

The score makes the Nikon D850 the first DSLR to receive 100 points from a DxO review. It beat out its predecessor, the Nikon D810, which had an overall score of 97, and the Pentax K-1 with a score of 96.

Rounding out the top five in DSLRs are more siblings, the Nikon D7200 and D750.

Among cameras overall, the D850 comes out on top, just ahead of the Sony A7R II, which boasts an overall score of 98.

DxO says the D850’s key strengths are its outstanding colour rendition and dynamic range at base ISO values, where “it again ranks as the number one among all commercially available cameras we’ve tested for these attributes.”

DxO adds: “the D850 is a mouthwatering prospect for landscape, studio, portrait, as well as high-end editorial or advertising photographers who are seeking top-notch image quality for large-scale reproduction and display.”
