DxO has announced Nik Collection 3, an enticing update to Nik Collection 2 that makes a host of enhancements and adds Perspective Efex for making geometric corrections. This brings the total number of plug-ins included in the package to 8 (Silver Efex Pro, Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Dfine, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro, Viveza and Perspective Efex).
Nik Selective Tool
DxO has updated the Nik Collection access palette that opens with an image in Adobe Photoshop. It has been redesigned to look much more modern and offer fast access to each plugin.
It can also show your favourite presets and the ‘Last Edit’ ready for speedy application
Helpfully, the tool can be collapsed and expanded with one click.
Non-Destructive Workflow for Adobe Lightroom Classic
DxO has harnessed the Tiff Multipage file format to enable non-destructive image editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic. This combines the input image with the saved Nik Collection 3 editing parameters along with the output image all in one file.
Perspective Efex
Perspective Efex is a new plug-in for Nik Collection 3 to enable geometric corrections. It utilises DxO’s expertise and has a collection of tools that are familiar from DxO Viewpoint.
Perspective Efex can automatically correct converging lines and shape distortion resulting from using wide-angle lenses to give objects their natural form. It can even automatically correct fish-eye distortion.
It can also correct sloping horizons.
In addition, there’s a Perspective Efex has a Miniature Effect tool that can be used at the end of processing images to replicate the look of using a tilt-and-shit lens.
This tool has two blur gradients that can be positioned to give a symmetrical or asymmetrical effect. There’s even control over the aperture size to simulate the bokeh.
Message Centre
DxO has added a Message Centre to Nik Collection 3. This is accessed via the new Nik Selective Tool and it’s designed to enable Adobe Photoshop users stay up to date on the latest news about Nik Collection 3 and access webinars, tutorials and customer support services.

Nik Collection 3 Price and Availability
Nik Collection 3 by DxO is available for immediate download for both Windows and macOS computers.
There’s a launch price of £86.99 instead of £125, and £49.99 instead of £69 for the upgrade, until June 30, 2020.
Anyone wishing to upgrade from earlier versions of Nik Collection can do so by signing into their customer accounts.
There’s also a free one-month trial version of Nik Collection 3 available.
