DxO has announced the official debut of the Nik Collection 2018 plugins – priced $50 / £50 – for Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, as well as DxO PhotoLab 1.2 editing software.

DxO, which purchased the Nik Collection from Google in October 2017, has spent the seven months since optimising the code of the Nik Collection’s seven plugins to make it compatible with the latest version of Adobe products, as well as the recent Apple OS updates.
DxO’s Nik Collection 2018 is now fully functional with all 64-bit Windows and Mac platforms, the company says, as well as with Adobe Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop CC 2018, and Photoshop Elements 2017/2018.
As before, the Nik Collection 2018 includes the same seven plugins:
Silver Efex Pro: for converting images to black and white, this is inspired by traditional darkroom techniques.
Analog Efex Pro: simulates the look of traditional film, cameras and lenses.
Color Efex Pro: a collection of colour correction and creative effect filters, plus retouching controls.
Dfine: noise reduction software.
HDR Efex Pro: High Dynamic Range (HDR) software.
Sharpener Pro: image sharpening with the ability to apply localised or global sharpening.
Viveza: local adjustment of colour and tone.
DxO says the Nik Collection is now also available in 13 languages, and the company provides support in four languages on its website.
Nik Collection 2018 Price
The Nik Collection 2018 by DxO is available for download on the DxO website with a discounted price tag of $49.99 / £39.99 / €49.99 until 1 July.
From then on the Nik Collection 2018 price tag will be $69 / £59 / €69 until July 1st, 2018.

DxO PhotoLab 1.2
DxO replaced its Optics Pro software with the new PhotoLab software last year. The new iteration introduced a new localised adjustment tool using U Point technology, which is also now employed in the Nik Collection 2018 plugins.
In PhotoLab 1.2 DxO has improved upon this technology for localised, non-destructive editing. DxO has also introduced some other new features.
In PhotoLab 1.2 there is a new Hue and Selective Tone (HSL) setting to unblock locally dark areas or recover overexposed portions of an image.
DxO says the software’s equalizer system has also been revamped and local settings are now grouped by categories, which include: Light, Color and Detail. Users can hide or display these categories by clicking them.
A new keyboard shortcut lets users show a U Point mask in grayscale, as well as the area that will e affected by the correction.
And DxO has also updated PhotoLab 1.2 to support images from the Sony A7 III, Panasonic GH5, TZ90 and GF9, as well as the Canon EOS 2000D, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.
