Smartphones with dual and triple camera setups are being sold at record pace, according to new research.

A report by market analysts Counterpoint Research has found that dual and triple camera smartphones accounted for 42% of all phones sold globally in July 2018.

Growth of multi-camera phones has grown to this figure from just 15% in the past year.

What’s more, the market analysts predict that multi-camera smartphones will grow to 60% marketshare by the end of this year alone.

The report predicts that multiple sensors is the ‘new battleground’ amongst phone manufacturers now that megapixels have topped out.

The Korea Herald, which contributed to the report, says: “Most major smartphone makers, including Samsung Electronics, Apple and LG Electronics, are reportedly preparing to roll out smartphones fitted with three rear-facing camera modules in a bid to step ahead in the premium segment.”
