Vitec Group, the company that owns Manfrotto as part of its large portfolio of photographic accessory brands, has acquired Lowepro and JOBY.

With the addition of JOBY and Lowepro, Vitec’s range of brands grows to 22, which as wellas Manfrotto also includes Gitzo, Lastolite, Colorama and Avenger.

Lowepro is one of the market leaders of camera bags, which was acquired by DayMen back in 2002. Meanwhile JOBY, which was founded in 2006, is known for its GorillaPod flexible mini tripod range.

“We are proud to announce that two remarkable brands within the Photographic Accessories market, JOBY and Lowepro, will join the Vitec Photographic Division. We pride ourselves on supplying the leading photographic brands to a global market, and this natural addition to our business strengthens the outstanding offering we already provide to our partners worldwide,” said Marco Pezzana, Photographic Divisional Chief Executive.

“We believe that our extensive knowledge of the photographic market will enable us to add a wealth of value to these already leading brands. JOBY and Lowepro’s product development expertise coupled with our established global distribution network, engineering and manufacturing capabilities, gives an exciting opportunity for both the Vitec Group and our global partners.”

No financial terms of the deal were revealed.
