The switch from traditional storage to ultra-fast NVMe SSD is gathering pace. Now Lexar has announced their latest drive, the NM620 M.2 2280 NVMe SSD.

This new drive is designed to cope with intensive workloads such as video editing, where transfer speeds are of paramount importance.

The new drive features read speeds of up to 3,300MB/s and write speeds of 3,000MB/s, making the NM620 an ideal solution for anyone editing 4K or higher video.

Users of the Sony FX3 or 6K video the Blackmagic Design Pocket cinema camera 6k pro will take full advantage of this drive’s speed.

Slow drives can be a real issue that many Video editors are aware of, dropped and paused frames being amongst them. While errors might only appear as a dropped frame warning, that error can manifest during export and sharing.

The NM620 features low-density Parity Checks (LDPC). This technology is designed to fix data errors automatically before they become apparent.

Aside from the ultra-fast speeds, the switch to NVMe makes sense for video editors working in the field as with no moving parts; there’s nothing to go wrong mechanically, ensuring that NVMe drive will outlast standard optical drives.

As NVMe develops, there is a push to make the drives far more economical when it comes to energy. The NM620 has been designed with the latest energy-saving technology incorporated, which will help you get maximum battery life when used with your laptop.

The new drive will be available in 256, 512 and 1TB capacities.
