Leica unveils special red anodized edition M Camera

News

If you’re looking for something a little different this festive season then the new red anodised Leica M (Typ 262) could be just the thing, and certainly something you need to be seen with at celebration events.

Machined from solid aluminium, the top and bottom plate have been anodised bright red. If you’re worried about the clash of colour with your lens choice then don’t be – Leica have thought about that too.

As well as the special edition camera they’re also releasing a special edition Leica APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH lens to match, perfect for capturing memories of Christmas and New Year.

If you think you can wait for the post Christmas sales and bag yourself a bargain, think again! Leica has of course limited the run of Red edition to 100 and each camera will have a unique serial number. They are likely to sell out quickly.

Specification-wise the Red edition will be identical to the Leica M (Tip 262) and the layout and controls will also be identical.

The full-frame CMOS sensor has been specially designed exclusively for rangefinder photography and intentionally does without features such as live view and video recording, giving this camera a more traditional and exclusive feel.

If you’re looking for a statement piece this Christmas then the Leica M (Typ 262) ‘red anodised finish’ is available today from all good Leica stores for just $6995.

Remember the Leica Red edition is just for Christmas, so once you’ve finished with yours, please send it to Camera Jabber and we’ll be more than happy to recycle it for you!
