Leica’s APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH lens is now available in a silver anodised finish, the company has announced.

Its ‘sharpest-ever standard lens’, according to the company, the Leica 50mm f/2 features eight elements, with a floating element in its design to ensure it can maintain its wide maximum aperture at close shooting distances.

Three of the elements are made from glass types with anomalous partial dispersion or apochromatic correction, and two have a high refractive index. The specially-formulated glass employed is based on original developments from the former Leitz glass laboratory, the company say.

The Leica APO-Summicron-M 50 mm f/2 ASPH. silver anodised version’s price tag will be £5,900, with a release date set for the end of July.
