Leica, the esteemed German camera manufacturer has announced the Leica SL2-S Reporter, a new addition to its Reporter-Design-Series which already includes the M10-P Reporter, Q2 Reporter and Q2 Monochrom Reporter.
Like the other Reporter editions, the full-frame, 47.3MP, mirrorless Leica SL2-S Reporter features a more robust design than the standard SL2, enabling it to be used in more adverse conditions.
The Leica SL2-S Reporter has a robust all-metal body and a scratch-resistant paint finish in dark green. It also features an aramid fibre coating that is strong and heat-resistant, and was originally designed for the US military. Consequently, the Leica SL2-S Reporter is designed to survive extreme temperatures, shocks, dust and water.
The synthetic aramid fibre also has a distinctive pattern of tightly interwoven fibres, which as well as giving the camera a different appearance, improves the grip.
While the technical photographic specifications of the SL2-S Reporter are the same as the regular SL2-S, the Reporter edition has a more unobtrusive appearance (the red Leica logo has gone) making it better-suited to covert photography and videography.
