Leica has beefed up its Noctilux lens line, introducing the new Leica Noctilux-M 75mm f/1.25 ASPH for its M system cameras.

Promising speed and razor thin depth of focus for ‘unique bokeh’, the Noctilux-M 75mm f/1.25 offers a depth of focus even shallower than Leica’s Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH, the company says, allowing users to precisely isolate subjects in the frame.

The new Leica lens offers a close focusing distance of 0.85m and a reproduction ratio of 1:8.8, making it viable for both portraiture and close-up photography, Leica says.

The Noctilux-M 75mm f/1.25 ASPH features an optical design of nine elements in six groups made from glasses with high anomalous partial dispersion and low chromatic dispersion.

Two of the new Noctilux lens’s elements are aspherical and help reduce aberrations.

Other features include an integrated lens hood that’s retractable via a twist action, and the lens is supplied with a tripod adapter.

The Leica Noctilux-M 75mm f/1.25 ASPH joins the Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH and Noctilux-M 75mm f/1.25 ASPH in the company’s growing lens range.

No price information was available at the time of writing, but the Leica Noctilux-M 75mm f/1.25 ASPH release date will be in the beginning of 2018.
