Leica has announced the first two optics in a new line of Summicron-SL lenses for its SL-System, introducing the APO-Summicron-SL 75 mm f/2 ASPH. and the APO-Summicron-SL 90 mm f/2 ASPH.
Both new Leica SL lenses will be available in February and are aimed at portrait photographers.
Leica says both its new Summicron-SL lenses offer fast and silent autofocusing, thanks to a newly developed AF system that also promises a shorter close focusing limit.
The autofocus drives of the new Summicron-SL 75mm and 90mm f/2 lenses boast a stepping motor with a Dual Syncro Drive, which Leica says enables the AF system to travel the entire focusing range in just 250 milliseconds.
Leica says the new Summicron-SL 75mm and 90mm f/2 lenses are also Apochromatic, or APO corrected, meaning that they are designed to capture images in high-contrast light and reduce the effects of chromatic aberrations and colour fringing.
The new Leica Summicron-SL lenses are comprised of 11 elements, one of which is aspherical, featuring anomalous partial dispersion and are manufactured from sensitive and specially formulated, high-quality glass, Leica says.
The APO-Summicron-SL 75 mm f/2 ASPH. will be available from 25 January 2018, and the APO-Summicron-SL 90 mm f/2 ASPH. from 8 February 2018, priced at £3,750 an £4,100 (including VAT) respectively.
